The plan
Friday evening
You park right next to the bungalow and the bags are inside in two minutes. A match, the first flames, and the wood starts to crackle in the living room. A simple dinner from the kitchen, then the evening by the fire: the working week already feels far away.
Saturday
In the morning, walk along the Meuse to Waulsort and cross on the ferry, the little boat linking the two banks. In the afternoon, Freÿr château and its formal French gardens, facing the rocks.
Our tip for the evening: book a table. Restaurant Primitif in Gedinne for a special night, or a simpler place in Onhaye or Dinant. Back at the bungalow, you stir the embers and the evening carries on by the fire.
Sunday
Lie in, then coffee in the sun on the south-facing terrace if the weather allows. Before heading home, one last walk to the Cascatelles or a visit to Saint Peter’s abbey church on the Meuse. You’ll leave with a hint of wood smoke in your jumpers.
